Equine Mobile Care FAQs
Read through our most frequently asked questions about mobile equine care.
-
When are mobile equine services available?
Our mobile equine care services are available Monday through Friday during our regular clinic hours.
-
What is your service area?
Our service area includes Mountain View County. We also provide mobile service beyond Mountain View County, but please call to discuss with our team.
-
How do I make payment for mobile services?
Our veterinarians will bring a debit / credit machine to your farm. Otherwise we accept e-transfer, credit cards over the phone or payment in person.
All fees are due at the time of service.
-
Will I be provided with an estimate of costs?
Once your horse has been examined, you may request an estimate at any time. Please do not hesitate to discuss costs with your veterinarian during your appointment.
-
How do I prepare for a mobile visit?
Please provide detailed directions if you are not easily located with Google Maps. Please provide gate codes or leave your gates open for our arrival.
Please ensure that we have quick and easy access to your horse. Make sure there are no vehicles blocking the barn entrance as we need to be as close to the horse as possible with our equipment.
We may need access to power and water with a good hose connection. An overhead beam may also be necessary depending on the procedure performed. A clean place to work such as a swept rubber mat and good lighting is also much appreciated.

How can I prepare my horse for their appointment?
Whether your horse is scheduled for a regular check-up or you've called about an issue that is concerning you, we appreciate it if you are able to groom your horse prior to arrival. Some diagnoses and treatments are not possible if the horse is excessively dirty.
Please make sure to give our veterinarians a heads-up regarding any behavioural issues your horse may display during their appointment. If the reason for our visit is due to abnormal or concerning behaviour, it is always helpful if you can record the issue just in case your horse decides not to display that same behaviour while our veterinarians are examining them.
It is always appreciated if you've kept good records of your horse's medical appointments. Informing our veterinarians about the medical issues your horse has had in the past, or treatments they've had done is incredibly helpful, especially when we are making farm calls and do not have immediate access to our records.
-
What is your appointment cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the space in our schedule to other clients.
There may be fees incurred with a late cancellation of an appointment.
-
What should I know about lameness or pre-purchase exams?
For a lameness or pre-purchase examination, our veterinarians require an arena with soft footing and a safe area that has hard footing to assess the horse for soundness. We ask our clients to be prepared to ride during the evaluation if requested by the doctor.
